On March 20th, the city temporarily suspended curbside collection of yard waste and bulk items to redirect our resources toward the increase of residential trash and recycling generated by residents who are remaining at home due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The temporary suspension also is due to the difficulty of maintaining social distancing of the larger crews required to manually handle bulk items and yard waste.
We are asking residents to place all household trash in a bag and inside a city-issued receptacle to prevent scatter during trash collection. Loose recyclable materials are still allowed to be placed inside city-issued recycling bins.
The Public Works Department will perform a sweep of the city on Mon, April 6, to remove previously bagged yard waste placed at the curbside. Loose yard waste placed at curbside for removal after Mon, April 6, will not be removed until the service is reinstated.
There may be further changes to curbside waste collection services in response to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 outbreak. The city will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation and make changes to ensure the health and safety of our community and staff.
Please continue to monitor the city website and social media for updates. Thank you for your understanding.
