Route Treatment Priorities

The primary goal is the preservation of life and the safe passage of primary roads for emergency vehicles. Roads where critical equipment and first responder facilities are located will be given priority. On roads with more than one travel lane in each direction, the plan will be to treat and maintain one lane in each direction. When possible, all main thoroughfares will be pre-treated with anti-icing material before the fall of frozen precipitation. The treatment sequence of bridges, primary, and secondary roads will be handled based on the average traffic volume and capacity of the road and according to the Road Treatment Priority Plan.

Roads not shown on the Road Treatment Priority Plan, including all residential streets, will not be pre-treated or treated during a winter event except if necessary for Public Safety response at the request of the Chamblee Chief of Police and/or DeKalb County Fire Officials.
