The records section is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is staffed by a supervisor, two full-time records clerks and one part-time records clerk.
This unit is responsible for all of the record keeping functions of the department. In addition to entering data into various computer data bases, they scan paper records and documents into a computerized optical imaging system, which allows for long-term storage without the need to keep paper records. They also serve as the initial contact for the walk-in public, answer non-emergency phone calls, accept payments for fines and process criminal history record checks. They issue Alcohol Handling Permits, Door to Door Salesmen Permit, and Massage-Spa Permit.
